Using the Digital Library of the HAB Wolfenbüttel

Founded in 1572, the Herzog-August-Bibliothek Wolfenbüttel is one of the biggest collections of manuscripts, incunables and prints in Germay, owning for instance about 230 000 prints from the 16th and 17th century. Its Digital Library is involved in various research projects.

Accessing Documents

Step 1: Using the link from the EMTO-Database, you reach the title page of the document. The persistence of the URL is guaranteed by the HAB.

Step 2: For navigation in the document, you can use either the arrows on top of the sidebar or the Image-ID pull down menu. You can as well choose a thumbnail-view in various formats, and define the resolution of the images. The link Bibliographic Records gives you access to the 'virtual catalogue card' of the document. The link Citations opens a new window, showing the results of a Google-search on the URL of the document. A download of complete documents via the Internet is not possible. Instead, you may order a CD-ROM from the library, using the form under Order CD. For citations, you can either use the persistent URL (PURL) shown at the head of the window, or you use the format described under How to quote?.
