EMTO wurde am Lehrgebiet I des Instituts für Philosophie an der Fernuniversität in Hagen entwickelt. Es ist Teil der Aktivitäten der ESEMP. EMTO nutzt litw3 für die Datenbankverwaltung und wurde durch die Gerda-Henkel-Stiftung finanziert.
"Early Modern Thought Online" (EMTO) is a database offering access to about 2000 digitized source texts from early modern philosophy and related disciplines like history of science and theology provided by libraries in Europe and overseas. In the present stage of its development, EMTO merely presents links to external resources. EMTO has been developed at the Lehrgebiet I of the Institut für Philosophie at the FernUniversität in Hagen, Germany, and is part of the activities of the ESEMP. It uses litw3 for database management, and has been funded by the Gerda-Henkel-Stiftung.
